Frequently Asked Questions

What time does church begin and end?
Worship begins at 10am and lasts about an hour.

Where do you meet?
Water’s Edge UMC meets weekly at Montessori Academy - Cincinnati, 8293 Duke Blvd, Mason, Ohio 45040

When did the church begin?
We opened our doors in early 2007 as an extension church of
Faith Community UMC.

What should I wear?
Whatever is comfortable to you! We’re not bogged down with rules. You will mostly see casual pants and jeans, even on Pastor Jenn. But some people dress in business wear and others prefer a tie and dress clothes.

What about kids?
Kids have a blast at Water’s Edge.  All children infant – 6th grade can check in at the Children’s Registration table and leaders help them find their group. Infants to 2 year-olds are in the nursery, and 2 ½ - 3-year-olds are in the toddler area. Older children are grouped by age in classes.

How can I get involved?
See our
Get Involved section. You’ll be given a program at worship. Fill out the card in the program and tell us what interests you. A member of one of our teams will give you a call – if you want -- to give and get more information.

What should I expect on my first visit?
First, friendly faces greeting you at the door. Then be ready for hot coffee, an awesome band with guitars, drums, keyboard, and vocals, and a welcoming atmosphere. Expect to hear a Biblical story unpacked in a way that you can apply it to your life today.  Expect people to be friendly, but not overbearing.  Expect your kids to want to come back.

How do I stay in contact?
Through our website, signing up for the newsletter and coming to weekly worship. Click here to
send us your info.

How do I become a member?
You don’t need to be a member to attend Water’s Edge. But for those who want to join, membership classes are being planned for February and will happen 3 times a year.

What does the name Water’s Edge mean?
The name flowed out of Luke 5:1-4.  (paraphrased)  Jesus noticed two empty boats at the Water’s Edge and told his disciples to push away from shore and go out to where it is deeper to catch many fish.

What does it mean to be United Methodist?
We believe the church belongs to God and that the church is, in the words of the Apostle Paul, the body of Christ. The church is to be the physical presence of Christ in the world. As such, our primary aim is to guide people in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

United Methodists profess the historic Christian faith. We encourage you to read more about United Methodists by visiting their website at www.umc.org  or ask lots of questions of our leaders.
