Water’s Edge UMC is a Faith
Community Extension is a new church in the Mason area.
Our goal at Water’s Edge is to create an atmosphere where all are
relaxed and comfortable. We are casual in our dress, practical in
our teachings, and relevant in our worship.

The mission at Water’s Edge UMC is to make disciples of Jesus
Christ. We believe this happens when individuals are connected and
engaged in worship and small group gatherings.
Regardless of how much or how little you have studied the Bible or
attended a church, we believe you will walk away from worship
encouraged and challenged to dive deeper; discovering how Jesus
Christ longs to be a part of all our lives.
How can I connect?
WE invite you to join others who meet throughout the week in homes,
coffeehouses and other locations for study, conversation, and
growth.
Each group differs and discusses topics relevant to today. There are
a variety of groups for families, men, women, and children from
which to choose.
**Visit the Welcome Center in order to take the next step to
connect.
Worship:
Our services are designed to be powerful and inspiring, but most of
all relevant. WE use video, drama, multimedia, contemporary music
and a Biblical message that talks about the issues you face every
day and how to connect God’s wisdom to your life.
WE hope each week you will be challenged and encouraged, ready to
grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ.
Small Groups:
WE are convinced lives are changed when we connect with others. The
lifeline at Water’s Edge is being involved in a small group. This is
where you will have opportunities to study, read, and ask questions
about the Bible, your journey with Christ, and how to live a healthy
Christian life.
All small groups will look different. Many groups will be short term
(6 – 8 weeks). Other groups might be a longer commitment; it will
depend on the topics, books or studies being used.
WE also offer groups of a more social nature. This might be your way
of simple connecting with others in a NON-THREATENING WAY! These
groups might go out to a movie, have dinner together, work on a
project or go out for a round of golf.
It doesn’t matter the style of group, what matters is YOU are
connected. WE encourage everyone to be connected somewhere.
Children’s Ministry:
Nursery – (birth – 2 years) provides a safe, caring, clean
environment for infants. Every Sunday you can expect paid certified
caregivers.

On Sunday mornings, your child will enjoy music, activities and
small group discussion time; all focused on a specific Bible
teaching. Our hope is your child will walk away with a better
understanding of the Bible and what it means to be a child of God.
The purpose of S.O.S. is to help children know who they are in
Christ in order to commit their lives to Jesus and grow as one of
Christ’ disciples.
For the parents:
The greatest influences on faith development are the conversations
that take place in the home. Each week, WE encourage the parents to
be a part of your child’s spiritual development by using a tool WE
call “Table Talk”.
Table Talk is a guide for Parents that holds discussion questions
and references to what the children learned that day. WE encourage
you to take a moment with your child exploring God’s Word together.
In Matthew
(22:34-39) the Pharisees ask Jesus which is the greatest commandment
of the law. Jesus replied to them, “Love the
Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with
all your strength and with all your mind. This is the first
and greatest commandment. And the second is like it:
‘Love your neighbor as yourself’.”
Jesus teaches that
we are to focus our lives on loving Him and each other.
Likewise, later in Matthew (28:19-20) Jesus meets with the disciples
and gives them the Great Commission. He tells them, “Go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to
the very end of the age.” Jesus was instructing the disciples then
and now to unite believers with Him and teach them to live a
life for Him. Author Rick Warren in his book “The Purpose
Driven Church” sums this up very nicely when he states that ‘a great
commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission will
grow a great church.”
In the summer of
1966, the need for a Methodist Church in Southwestern Ohio
was
recognized by the Dayton District of the Ohio United Methodist
Conference. Funds from the sale of property from a disbanded
Methodist church along with money from the Church Extension Program
of the Conference was used to purchase a parsonage and 6.235 acres
of land for a future building site. The name for the church – Faith
Community United Methodist Church - was selected “to reflect the
community spirit and faith that will cause spiritual and physical
growth of the church.” In September of 1966, 35 people were brought
into official church membership and the community of believers known
as Faith Community United Methodist Church was successfully planted.
Today, after several building expansion projects and significant
spiritual and physical growth, the original 6.235 acres at 8230 Cox
Rd. has been built to capacity. Indeed, Faith Community has had a
great commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission
and has grown a great church!
There are still many
more people who need to come into a transforming relationship with
Jesus Christ but with limited space to grow further, Faith Community
will live out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission by
establishing Water’s Edge as an “extension campus” in the nearby
community of Mason.
Scripture...
Jesus saw at the water’s edge two
boats, left there by fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got
into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon and asked him to
put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people
from the boat. When he had finished speaking he said to Simon,
“Put out into
deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all
night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will
let down the nets.”
When
they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their
nets began to break.
Then
Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid;
from now on you will catch men.”
So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything
and followed him.
