Small Groups

Small groups at Water’s Edge UMC are designed to meet various interests and focus on three primary areas:

Affinity Groups
Church Wide Study

Small Study Groups

Affinity Groups are social/fellowship opportunities to “hang out” and enjoy the company of others while doing things you enjoy. They also provide great “on the elbow” opportunities to introduce friends and neighbors to Water’s Edge in a casual and non-threatening way. Each season throughout the year there are a variety of affinity group offerings that meet to provide people with a chance to meet new people through a smaller group setting. Click here for information about the current Affinity Groups.

Church Wide Studies are designed to provide everyone with an opportunity to try out a small group as we study and learn together.  Sunday morning sermons and children’s church programming will support the small group study information that small groups cover during the week when they meet.  There will be several different types of church wide study opportunities through out the year. Click here for information about the current Church Wide Studies Groups.

S
mall Study Groups create an environment where its members experience fellowship, acceptance, trust, confidentiality, and support of one another, fulfillment when serving, and a growing relationship with God. A healthy small group consists of: 3-12 people, Bible based study, Prayer, Service and Regular meetings. Each group will have a small study group leader. Small Study Group Leader responsibilities include:

Arrange for meeting space either in a home or other convenient location
Lead and facilitate group time or ensure a schedule for others that are leading and facilitating
Shepherd group members
Hold members accountable for group time and worship attendance
Pray regularly for the group members
Organize the group to participate in outreach at least 1 time per year
Identify and encourage others in the group to co-lead and to grow into study group leaders

Each season throughout the year there are a variety of small study group offerings that meet for study. There are Dive In to Small Groups fairs regularly to help you get connected to a study group. Click here for information about the current Small Study Groups
